Yelling Into The Silence

>> 10/19/2009

David wrote in Psalm 40 “I waited and waited and waited for God. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God.” (Psalms 40:1–3 MESSAGE)

God has me in a “wait and wait and wait” place right now (which explains my blog silence). I must admit I am not good at this place. I want to get up from my waiting and resolve the challenges before me myself since God is being silent. I know in my soul that He has the better answer, but I am having to battle to stay in this place.

I am confident that the Lord will do for those who are willing to wait until He makes His way perfectly clear what David writes. I know that if I remain silent and waiting before the Lord He will “lift me up and set my feet on solid ground.” I long for that more than anything. My longing keeps me sitting here in silence, waiting as patiently as I can.

When I reach the place that He has worked and led then and only then will many see and know that He is God. A very cool promise at the core of this is that if I will wait for God to work then He will bring glory to Himself. I question sometimes whether I will be useful for the kingdom in my life, but this promise reminds me that through my life others will see His work and they will chose to follow Him.

Every now and then I need to say aloud these truths. Yelling them into the silence helps me remember to stay put. So I offer these words as my own reminder to wait, wait, wait...WAIT!
